Amorphous helped take Edgars Club Magazine into the future by introducing a well-timed distribution solution and using Adobe Digital Publishing Suite to create the first fully interactive digital lifestyle magazine in South Africa.
Edgars Club Magazine has some serious clout in the often treacherous and increasingly unpredictable South African print landscape. With subscribers clocking in at over 850 000, the magazine has the highest circulation in the country. Never complacent, Edgars Club approached Amorphous to develop an app that could deliver a digitally enhanced edition of the mag to run in tandem with the print edition. Amorphous was only too happy to oblige, as we have special interest in app development and love to challenge our developers with new projects.
Digital publishing is the new frontier and at Amorphous we love pushing boundaries and ourselves to be early adopters. We're not into creating flat, dull 'page flippers' that mirror their hard copy counterparts' lack of interactivity. What we do like, is creating beautiful, captivating apps that deliver a smooth, beguiling and (most importantly) digitally enhanced experience.
Keeping our aforementioned most favourite things in mind, Amorphous used Adobe Digital Publishing Suite to create the Edgars Club Magazine App. We added value to the digital edition in every possible form, filling the mag with rich media in the way of video and audio, exceptional digital-only content and exclusive competitions. Ace- enhanced content demands an equally first-rate user experience. To make sure we had both, we designed iPhone, iPad and Android specific versions of the app.
The design elements we chose encouraged interaction through the use of the usual suspects - swipe, tap and scroll - but also explored the scope of the Adobe software and HTML5 to create interactive backgrounds and foil 'scratch off' replica blocks.
